OMG MY MOST SUCCESSFUL POST EVER 😱
Incl. bonus content from all the comments + weekly meta ofc.
This week I wrote my most successful twitter thread ever - beating the previous one by at least 2x by all metrics 😱
It also got me 150ish new followers, finally pushing me over 4k! 🥳🎉
Full thread below w/ extras from comments.
But first, weekly meta!
🔭 Weekly Meta
The good:
US Senate passed the GENIUS Act (stablecoin regulation bill)
Shopify stores soon able to offer USDC checkouts to 875 million users
Tether made $13.7b in 2024. Trading at the same multiple as Circle, it would be the most valuable company in the world 🤯
JP Morgan met with SEC to discuss "impact of capital markets moving to public blockchains". They‘re also tokenizing checking account deposits???
Joe Lubin saying “ETH is Digital Oil” report targeting $70-700k per ETH wasn‘t bullish enough, that Ethereum L1 will be “the master ledger of the world” 👀
The bad:
From being investigated by the SEC, to Justin Sun becoming top holder of $TRUMP & World Liberty Financial, to investigation being dropped, straight to Tron going public & hiring Eric Trump. Crime season.
Despite bragging how they don‘t support any political causes, Coinbase decided to sponsor the US military 🤦🏻♂️
“Mutual destruction of brand equity for both sides” - Mykhailo
“Tacky if nothing else” - Dr. Nick
Absolutely disgusting in any case:
Crypto then: Fuck banks, fuck Amazon, fuck Uber, fuck Airbnb, fuck every Fortune 500 centralized piece of shit & most of all, FUCK NATION STATES ✊
Crypto now: Let's lick some boots & pray institutions keep buying our bags while checking our AWS bill in an Uber on our way to the Airbnb 🙏
The DAO Archetypes
Finally, my most successful post ever!
After watching 30+ DAOs implode over the last 9 years, I noticed the same character archetypes are there EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
Once you see them, you can't unsee them 😂
I hope that knowing these archetypes will help you identify them and deal with them...
The Executor
Simply does things.
If the DAO was a company, they would be the CEO or C level. In a DAO, they are chronically underpaid & underappreciated.
Will work for a year or two maybe before burning out & ragequitting.
RARE!!! Retain at any cost.
Vibesman
Here for the vibes & meeting people. Always says how he cares about the project deeply - except he sees the project as a community of people that are vibing, not as something that should prioritize execution.
Decentralization Maxi
"Wait, when was this decided?"
Cares much more about how decisions are made, than what decisions are made. Doesn't even really care whether the project succeeds or not, as long as its maximally decentralized - decentralization is success.
The Complainooor
Good friend of the Decentralization Maxi. Tends to complain but still disagree with proposals aiming to address problems. Never solves any problems himself, thinks pointing at issues is valuable enough on its own.
Hasn't gotten laid in years.
The Inflatooor
Wrote a lengthy introduction post as soon as he arrived. Generally does tend to be helpful, but his progress reports are bubbles. He pumps & dumps vague claims about the things he did, which often cannot be verified or evaluated.
Armchair Philosopher
Reviews & comments on every proposal. When he joins a proposal discussion session, you see someone sigh thinking "not this guy again".
Generally sole reason decisions are delayed, always knows how to do things better but never actually does them himself.
Helpoor
"I'm Helpoor, lmk what I can do to help!" - they say, before disappearing.
Tiny percentage comes back, makes excuses for why they didn't do anything, then starts contributing. Their contributions are poor or never finished, but you feel bad about telling them.
The Lurkooor
Doesn't say anything, doesn't do anything, often votes "no" on proposals, but never shares their rationale unless someone specifically asks them, in DMs of course.
The Extractooor
They write nice-sounding proposals with big words, but never mention KPIs, other metrics for checking whether it was useful, or specific ways it will help the DAO.
Their proposals have milestones, but fully paid upfront with 0 commitment to reports.
The Saboteur
A deadly mix of Decentralization Maxi, Armchair Philosopher & Helpoor.
They might not even know it, but they're following the CIA Playbook on disruption step by step.
Community additions
Here are some more that were suggested in the comments. I took the liberty to edit some of them, hope y‘all don‘t mind!
The Believer
A strong follower of The Executor moved by sheer conviction of the DAO ethos. Usually skilled in what is needed he acts as support. Participates in production and decision making but always follows a leader. Stays in touch even when the DAO dies, a true friend.
Outsider
Usually a KOL wannabe who only pops in to shill something or if the DAO faces any problems or FUD. Usually claims he saw it coming months ago, and how he would have done things different.
Has a rugged NFT project that he claims "provided value" through WL "opportunities" and "alpha calls". Majority of his followers are underwater but still simp due to his occasional giveaways of $50 for retweeting or vibing in his stream.

The Silent Infra Bearooor"
Works quietly behind the scenes to make sure the core infrastructure keeps running smoothly & critical bugs are resolved.
Their efforts are often unpaid or underfunded, compounded by personal debt incurred to sustain the project. Despite their good intentions and efforts, they face a toxic environment where their struggles unrecognized.

The Friendly Ghost
They never know anything about what happens in the DAO and it’s always a surprise for them when there’s a voting. They always vote Yes as always, praise “all the hard working contributors” and disappear again.
by Sofiverse
The God in the Machine
Usually the creator. The man in the high tower. The person that the foundation (and associated entities) and everyone else licks the boots of. Decentralised voting system or no. Nothing gets done without his say so. (Nothing gets done)
Took BDFL too seriously.

The Backdoor Channeler
Brokers back door deals but only to select few. Keep your eyes out for this one. They're influential but not haven‘t necessarily done anything important.
The Recurrer
Hey let’s set a weekly meeting and a monthly check-in on this. Oh and let’s all take the next week to use Lettucemeet to decide when to meet and let’s meet to talk about next week’s meeting.
“Maybe let's do a follow up call to discuss this question specifically"

🧐 What‘re u sayin?
Who am I missing? Anything I got wrong or anything else DAO-related you want me to write about?
Should I write a short post about the DAO Pop-up even tho its only next year?
This post was actually drafted almost 2 years ago - as a follow up to Roleocracy & the importance of autonomy
It also feeds into - The DAO Popup - an event I‘m organizing next year, as well as one of the most popular tweets too.
Much love,
peth ❤️
Wait but you didn't link your most successful post which will help to make it even more successful!
Here you go https://x.com/petheth/status/1935397131189371349 ;)
This makes sense for me to add here bcs my archetype is clearly the The Silent Infra Bearooor but also The Believer. ;)
