Meta #47 - Wait, WTF is a MetaFest 😱
Among countless of meetups, we organized two major events:
First there was InterCon; featuring ~60 speakers at the onset of the outbreak, it was the biggest if not the first virtual conference in the Ethereum space.
The second one was the Fork The World hackathon, the first hackathon focused on DAOs, the tooling around them & how to start your own.
Needless to say, people have been asking “wen InterCon 2” & “wen next FTW” for a while now - and we’ve been thinking; should we organize another conference or another hackathon? 🤔

The answer was right in front of us; we should do a bit of both + more 🙃

MetaFest is not just a conference or a hackathon, there will also be a bunch of purely social & fun events meant to bring people together - from multiplayer games, speed dating & random brain exchanges to a virtual concert.
It will go on for 4+ weeks:
Starting with a week of socializing through things like multiplayer games, speed dating, exploring metaverses & whatnot.
Continuing with a week of talks; random talks from metagamers as well metaviews from wider crypto & way outside of crypto space.
Leading into the launch of Season2 with a concert, going into days of workshops.
And finally, culminating in a week & a half of hacking things together.
When exactly?
Starting on the 7th of March & ending on the 4th of April.
And the theme?
MetaFest; manifest the future 🙃
Besides having fun, the main purpose of everything we’re doing at MetaGame is to help people level up then help us build a new kind of socioeconomic system,
One based around providing for human needs & solving problems rather than squeezing the world for ever more profit.
Therefore, the talks & workshops will generally be about technologies of the future but won’t leave out the weird fringes.

🧠 Learn or Teach - We need more knowledge to spread! Go to the #🧠-brain-exchange channel and post “I want to learn X” or “I can teach someone Y”.
🌱 Plant Yo Seedz - If you’ve been holding your Seeds for a while, its about time you plant some - you’re going to need to do that sooner or later 🙃.
🙆 Diversify - We have people from all over the world. From US to Europe, to India, Asia & Australia. So, who’s missing? Women. Help bring more women to MetaGame.
🔨 Bring a Builder - MetaGame needs moar builders! Help us find some by reading through the role description. Bonus points if they’re from the old world of Web2.
🤑 Onboard a Patron - MetaGame still hasn’t reached the Patrons cap 😱! Get someone to buy 5 Seeds & plant them 🙃

✏️ Moar League Perks - We are putting together a list of perks for attaining higher leagues (top 100 of 300), go drop some ideas on what you would want these perks to be.
✏️ Elder - We need more of the people who already found their way in Ethereum, to write their playbooks for people of similar angles & backgrounds. Check what Cooper did then do something similar.
✏️ FreeMasonin’ - We got the House of Ethereum, we got the House of DAOs, Vanilla is writing the House of DeFiance & Uranus is writing the House of Permaculture… What about the House of Tokens? House of dApps? House of Philosophy? House of Worldviews? House of… Anything? Just go ahead and write something.
🎨 Season1 Achievements - We’ll be minting achievement NFTs for the people who participated in Season1. Eg. “Season1 Diamond Leaguer”, “Best Shepherd Season1” etc. need designs for these achievements. Need more ideas? Ask in #🎨-artists-guild.
🎨 Seed Subscription - We need someone to design the Seed subscription page.
🎨 Help Plant Seedz - We need someone to design the interface for interacting with the Seed market & the pool.
🛠️ Protec Forums - We want to make forums only accessible to pSeed or NFT keycard holders, check the post or message peth for more info.
🛠️WhereMuhMemes - Linking wiki pages doesn’t bring up their photo - it should.
🛠️ Forum Theme Alignment - We want the forum to be in the same color scheme as the rest of MetaGame, check the link for more info.
🛠️ Drawing Apps - There’s a bunch of smaller issues around the app drawer currently up on my.metagame.wtf
🛠️ Openin’ Appz - Currently all the apps opening from the app drawer open in a new page - can’t build the MetaOS like this. Make all apps open inside iframe windows without leaving the page. We know iframes suck, its temporary, promise 😛
🛠️ Pimp MyMeta - We need people to be able to add more info to their MyMeta profiles, otherwise we’re failing to deliver the promise. Add the “add new block” functionality & a template.
🛠️ MyMeta Dashboard - Now that Davor finished designing this beauty of a dashboard, its time someone started implementing it 🙃

☔ Rainmaker- Usually filled by patrons, rainmaker role is about bringing in more patrons to support MetaGame by buying Seeds.
☸️ Guild Navigator - Help newcomers find things to learn & ways to contribute based on their background & interests.
✨ XP Fairy - Help make sure contributions are rewarded properly by keeping an eye on 😇-did-a-thing & 🙌-give-props and comparing emojis accrued to contributions.
💡 Productizer - They help turn projects that MetaGame is building into products for other organizations to use. Eg. MyMeta.
🤯 Headhunter- They are out there looking for new players - mainly builders.

Trolleo creates the icons for the App Launcher & starts ideating the new of the app version, also wins the poster design competition.
abcxd facilitates a design sprint on the MetaFest & peth migrates then tidies up all the things that were brainstormed - into a kanban board for making it happen.
Penguin makes the submission forms for speakers & moderators of MetaFest.
Peth & Avalon start conjuring up the promotion plan, starting with this post.
Geleeroyale builds the first version of MetaFest' landing. 😱
MetaFam continues plowing through the drama caused by a new member’s posting of an inappropriate meme. After 3 days of exhaustive discussion in the #devils-advocate, a meeting was held on Sunday with 12 attendees 😵
Kyle brings on a professional counselor, a student of Eckhart Tolle with decades of experience, to help with clearing of dramas in the future.
Penguin attends ETHDenver, shills the fuck out of MetaGame & starts recruiting speakers for the MetaFest - also writes descriptions for the missing raid channels
L-KH plunges through the ranked league icons & inspired MLIBTY, Gnomeski & a few others to start making improvements & their iterations.
SadBirdsClub prints a bunch of MetaGame stickers.
taekikz shipz the new issue of the Shots Fired newsletter.
Wonfiddy finishes the MetaMade - MetaGame’ rap song, also confirms the open mic night for the MetaFest in collaboration with DAOrecords.
dysbulic & METADREAMER work together to integrate 3Box’s IDX solution directly into Sourcecred.
Alec continues making profile edit fixes on MyMeta.
Paco finalizes the spec & starts building the back-end for the Questing module & ninjafire conjures up the first wireframe for its front-end.
Nemo makes progress on the project management side of things & we follow Geleeroyale’s suggestion of moving the technical project management over to ZenHub - a Github extension.
More people appear out of the woodwork to claim their rewards for things done a year ago & a bunch of people complete shilling quests & octo the fuck up.
