On Friday calls we set up the agenda for the week.
Seeing people tend toā¦ Not really do what they say theyāll do; I started regularly checking up on people and asking about their progress.
Yesterday was that day. Today, I woke up to a response from one of the core contributors asking to be removed from the inner circle. š¦
I like being angry more than I like being sad - the angry energy is easier to put to good use while sadness usually just makes me unproductive.
Anyway, hereās what he said:

Ascribing this to my lack of experience. When starting MetaGame, I was 100% aware of my incompetence at doing something as complex as this. What made me take the leap is my hope that, it being āa DAOā, more competent people will naturally rise up to the challenge & fill in the gaps.
Disclosure: At first, I was even naive enough to think the projects will be autonomous, not require management & the people working on them will just manage themselves. š
I believe it is because of lack of incentives
Seeds are not distributed regularly neither have understandable value
Its truly been far too long since we last minted Seeds. The gas prices were crazy and we were endlessly debating moving to xDAI or other layer2 solutions. We also underestimated peopleās patience for receiving Seeds based on it not mattering to Hammad & I.
Weāll be moving forward with Seed minting in the next few days. If you havenāt already, register your eth address in the #set-eth-address channel.

Itās been a year and I donāt think metagame moved far, or got any significant traction.
This is the bit that actually hurts me. Iām painfully aware that even though we did do a bunch of things, the technical progress has been damn slow.
My problem: Trying to figure out whether its me thatās the problem, my lack of ability managing the project, explaining it, promoting it etc. or is MetaGame simply something people donāt care about?
Help me figure it out, please.

š± XP & Seeds DAO
During the last call we decided that the Seed market stays on mainnet, the "where-from" of the membership paying problem will most likely at least temporarily be solved by minting +5% on all Seeds minted for contributors, then providing those as liquidity to money contributors who need to subscribe to buying as membership. Disagree? Contribute to the discussion through #memberships channel or the forum thread.
The āwhere-fromā problem: If membership is paid automatically through off-chain Seeds, what do we do about the people who want to join by buying on-chain Seeds? If membership is paid through on-chain Seeds, what do we do about the people who want to join by contributing labor? It would also require additional steps as you would have to not only buy Seeds but also send them away at the same time.

A decentralized profile/business page displaying your skills, achievements & reputations across DAOs & communities. Or whatever you want it to display.
During the week, Hammad took up merging the three branches of MetaGame. We canāt simply deploy MyMeta profiles, directory & navigation bar, to metagame.wtf because theyāre just pieces of the puzzle. We need to merge MyMeta with the main page & the Wiki.
Kris & dan13 were supposed to be working on the profile creation flow and adding the skills to the profiles but one of them left the game and the other disappeared.
Despite this being the raid of highest priority, it is regularly the least worked-on. š¬

Ronin is done rewriting MetaMaps with React Flow, revamped the UI, re-added all of the features and fixed most of the bugs. Time to figure out the next steps, what needs to be built, what needs to be tested, the roadmap etc.
šļø MetaVille
We figured Calla won't be suitable as the basis for MetaVille and we settled on the Traviso engine once and for all. Cagince has been doing some code refactoring and mostly migrated the prototype to Traviso.
The next major roadblock? In-game assets.
Cagince will give us an overview of the progress on tomorrowās call of which weāll dedicate a good chunk to figuring out what the next steps for MetaVille should be.

Rather than building a standalone website, we decided last week that MetaRadio should simply have a page on the wiki.
I bought a proper microphone and the podcast is rolling again thanks to kris, now weāll try to get it on a more stable release schedule.

š³ Skill Trees
We decided not to wait for MetaMaps to be ready and started working on the Skill Trees. I made the middle one and started adding more details, ben.oxmo made the cloud on the left which is more about practical steps of researching and becoming useful in crypto, and Austin & Simona made the one on the right, which is about developing in Ethereum.
I donāt know whether the tree structure will actually work for what weāre trying to do (probably not?), I donāt think āskill treesā is the right name if we want to include knowledge and not just skills and I have no idea how to actually integrate different versions & methods into one comprehensive mapā¦
Oh, and the tree illustration is absolute crap.
But weāll probably have to abandon it for something more of a network anyway, so..

Penguin joins the raid. We got the first designs ready to print on some shirts & Loop is working on sourcing more from his designer friends. Next up, coordinate with the MetaFactory and get the MetaMerch/MetaSwag/Whatever store up.

š¬ Improving Discord / š¤ Villagers
Gotta keep improving Discord, itās our man communications platform. This week, Vanilla did more testing on our playground server, then started implementing changes on our main server.
He added the announcements channel (which is somehow different than a normal channel just named āannouncementsā) that will get hooked up to other announcement channels across the MetaNation, Metaverse or however you want to call it.
Geleeroyale meanwhile added the first embassy, 1Hive. āEmbassiesā is the new channels category on our Discord, as the name suggests it will contain channels that act as embassies with other guilds - bridging messages from server to server.
If you canāt see the āembassiesā category, itās because it is only available to Silver league or higher ranked players.
Other than that, he added the ā!?portalsā functionality to the bot, which should make it easier for players to get to other parts of MetaGame.
