Welcome back, MetaNews readers! It's time for your monthly update on what's been happening in MetaGame, with some highlights from the MetaAlliance fam, plus some news and posts curated from the wider world of DAOs and Web3.
First time reader? Check out our video intro to MetaGame and find out what all the fuss is about!
🎉 MetaFest MetaFest MetaFest!
Just a little PSA for you here:
You’ve got tickets for MetaFest, yes?
Have you booked your accommodation, though?
You might want to get that sorted ASAP!
Your last-minute-booking habits are fundamentally incompatible with Croatia during peak season - most accommodations are already gone.
🤑 Mochi Rewards
Remember when we told you you can get $400/month for achieving your goals? It actually turned out to be more like $800! 😱
This month, Mochi needs you to feed it - and it will pay you for it.
🌪Experimentation Zone
Here’s what we’ve been messin’ with recently.
HaloFi 😇
Musashi13 (with an assist from Misanth on the pool setup) has created the MetaFest Player Savings Challenge on HaloFi.
In HaloFi, a savings challenge …
… allow[s] you join other HaloFi users in a collective effort to achieve your personal savings goals. By joining a challenge and making timely deposits according to the challenge's rules, you can earn rewards.
In this challenge, the savings goal is to cover your ticket to MetaFest Croatia, and we’re hoping to use the gainz to invite at least three deserving MetaGame players who might otherwise lack the financial means to join the fun.
Are you in? There might still be time to sign up. See the MetaGame Savings Challenge details on Halofi.
SourceCred RIP 😿
The SourceCred extended experiment has ended with the server and calcs being shut down, after much discussion. We’re now experimenting with not using SourceCred for rewards and comp.
Long Live Praise 🤲
We’re trying out Praise as a replacement for the ol’ SourceCred-linked #did-a-thing and #give-props server channels. It’s kind of the same … but also kind of not? Props to koH for helping with the setup, and to Musashi13, dysbulic, and kristopher for the persuasive intro on the community call.

🤝🏽 Community
We’ve been doing Twitter Spaces as a complement to our Discord-hosted Community Calls, and here’s who we had in for a chat in April. Tune in every week for fun and informative sessions!
Community Calls: Mo’casso from RAW DAO, Mariana from Coinshift, Ramon from Meet With Wallet, 0xSena and amenek.eth from ThriveCoin, Trislit from TokenSmart, The Blockchain Socialist, Andrew Nox from Quest of Evolution, and Diogo Vaz from Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology & Higher Education (!)
Twitter Spaces: Anna from ReFi DAO, HBesso from Urbanika, Antonio Pagliano, Sebnem from Younergy Crypto, Dr. Nick from Factory DAO, Ori Shimony from dOrg, Gabriel form Mochi & METADREAMER - we also hosted a hangout session that intro’d MetaGame to prospective Octos.
Replay recordings of the calls on the MetaMedia Youtube channel and/or the MetaMedia Lenstube channel.
Community Calls and Twitter Hangouts are brought to you by the Content Crew—props to Musashi13, Rika Goldberg, joseacabrerav, vanessagil, peth, b0gie, and koH for all the setup & organisation, planning & promo, hosting & green-rooming, and all the behind-the-scenes hard work that goes into setting up a smooth call.
Also in the community division
b0gie recorded those community calls and worked with vanessagil to post them all over the place
dysbulic and Musashi13 were active in keeping Mochi teams on track (and scolding Mochi admins)
dysbulic also helped joseacabrerav to get set up with OBS and Bonfire for recording calls
joseacabrerav and vanessagil did another month’s worth of Bard’s Night sessions
peth led community discussions on the Pausing SourceCred Proposal, helped clean out unused server channels, and took charge of a transaction to reimburse vanessagil’s spending on Lens posts
joseacabrerav and Musashi13 did great work with innkeeping and welcoming Discord server newcomers
koH pushed for trying out Praise and helped get it set up on the server
And props to Sero for the server boost!
📱 Technology
Polimyl shut down the SourceCred server & finally reached the end of the Mainnet Seed Pool Swaps adventure (…unless?)
Sero worked on the MyMeta profile edit flow and meTokens integration
vid finished the Quest Chains x Playbooks integration, implenting a new design, updating the SDK library, fixing bugs, and coordinating with Cami and peth on details
dysbulic was extremely busy behind the scenes, fixing an issue with the Coordinape data exports, tracking down obscure Nextjs settings to control CSS, doing big code reviews for Alec and Sero, and continuing work on the Chievmint’s refactor
Alec reviewed work by vid and Sero, and kept working on the ComposeDB switch, getting out of draft status, and getting more grant funding to finish the thing off
peth and Dave helped HHH get going with an update to the Quests section

More MetaMedia 🎦
In April, we featured:
Brandon Norgaad, on the MetaView podcast, talking about Enlighted Worldview, Game B & Metamoderism, and more
Travis Wyche, on the Frontiers of Coordination podcast, talking about Pluriverse, Moloch, and Regen
Will Ruddick from Grassroots Economics, who guested on the Frontiers of Coordination podcast to chat about mutual aid, community currencies & more
… and keep an eye out for a new Share What You’re Makin’ episode!
The MetaMedia podcasts are recorded, edited, and published by eowulia, the interviews are (usually) done by peth, with show notes and promo by vanessagil.
Rika, Musashi13, ApeironCreations, vid, and crew worked on the DRC playbook Quest Chain, part of the recent weekly Build In Public sessions on the server
peth did a lot of writing and hosting, including playbooks on Holacracy for Meetings and Using Coordinape in MetaGame, MetaFest Croatia newsletters and promo, plus podcast chats with Simona Pop, Travis Wyche, and Will Ruddick
Appreciation to Rika Goldberg for a substantial amount of work in the Content division—in addition to the DRC Playbook sessions, she led all of the Content Align meetings and shared notes, hosted the WTF is MetaGame Twitter Space, worked with vid to write Quest Chains grant applications, coordinated with the Ethereum Foundation Grants Team on playbooks, and got started on a promo post for cross-marketing with the Ceramic team.
🌱 Growth
Musashi13 has started to set up a promo web—a Decentralized Media Outlet that can include all the MetaGame guilds—helped get MetaGame some attention at TokenSmart, Game7, Aavegotchi, HaloFi, and Arweave, and did plentiful promo for MetaFest
joseacabrerav got peth a booking to talk to the EZinCrypto fam
vanessagil updated the MetaGame Giveth page, tweeted and posted (and whatever-you-call-it for the things on Lens) all the things as usual, and there’s now a fancy automation that cross-posts Lens content to the MetaGame Discord
Rika Goldberg restarted the Patrons Align calls, worked on getting the MetaGame treasury into Coinshift, helped set up Praise in the MetaGame Discord, started discussions with the Ceramic team about real-world applications of Web3 shareable data models, including our MyMeta profiles, and shared notes from the Growth Align calls
peth was busy, as usual!
Posts and widespread promo for the officially announcement of MetaFest Croatia
pushed the MetaGame pitch deck to a pair or two of people
“talked to legal” about the fundraise and how to take care of all that without getting on the SEC radar
Guested on podcasts and Twitter spaces to talk about MetaGame and MetaFest
Put in applications for grants from Gitcoin
Put forward and executed proposals for the Seed Fund and DAO Drops funds
Attemped to revitalize the Rainmakers Guild, with outreach and Growth Ring calls.
And wrote a Yearly Progress Report
Props to peth!
Plus props to smartdigitalpayments for rogue-ish promo, shills, and general Good Ideas for MetaGame 💡
