From gaining an understanding of how things work, to getting involved in the ecosystem down to workflows for specific roles inside organizations - there is a big need for more well written playbooks.
Playbooks were one of the first projects in MetaGame, that we never quite gave enough love and attention to. Why? Idk! 🤷♂️
But now we have the infrastructure for playbooks and a nice looking new UI! 🙃
Where we‘re at
We got 3 things:
Quest Chains, a decentralized education protocol where anyone can create a series of quests & issue soulbound NFTs to the people that complete them.
The Academy, a nice section of MetaGame that‘s used for displaying & completing the playbooks that are deployed on Quest Chains.
30+ playbooks to begin with!
Why playbooks?
A few reasons:
Academia is ossified & gatekept. Scholarships are insanely expensive & education often lasts longer than is reasonable, for various reasons.
On twitter we have threads. They capture the gist of the subject but usually not enough for you to fully enact them.
On the other hand, you have online courses - which are usually watered down & made longer than necessary just to gain legitimacy or justify the price.
We need something in the middle.
But the main problem isn’t content itself. It‘s us. The lack of accountability. You come by a playbook that could change your life, but you never complete it.
The information may be free but there‘s too much noise & too little accountability. 90% of people who start online courses never finish them. People write great playbooks on twitter with no clue whether anyone is completing them.
Boosting accountability
Unsurprisingly, we think cohorts are a part of the solution. But instead of each course matching you with random new people, or having cohorts that are just too huge for you to connect with and care about your peers - you start your own.
We encourage you to start a squad with a group of friends with similar goals, or make some, more ambitious friends. You don‘t have to study the same subjects, you just need to be there for each other.
Secondly - stake some $ on your goal.
Paying or the risk of losing money is one of the most effective ways of getting people to stick to their course completion goals. You can do it all with the Mochi bot through this discord channel. If you can‘t access it, say so in the 🏟-metasquare channel!
In other words: financial incentive + peer pressure = win
Long term
If it all goes well and people find it useful - there are a bunch of places we‘d like to take this. Here are some:
The above squad & staking functionality inside the webapp
Playbook curation & rewards via token upvoting
Linking playbooks into skill trees / knowledge graphs
Turning pupils into masters & stacking accreditation
To expand on the last point - playbook creators would get the option to raise the pupils to the master level, thereby adding them to the list of reviewers and stacking the weight of the playbook. “Certified by person A, B, C…”

Do one - or many
Over the next 30 days, we‘ll be running a challenge on completing playbooks!
People who complete the most playbooks:
1st place - $420
2nd place - $210
3rd place - $100
It ain‘t much but there are only 31 playbooks in total, and don‘t expect there to be much competition. To check how many others completed, or ping us for reviews - go to 💪-goal-checkins
The challenge will be running until July 12th.
