#120 MetaGame v1 Soon™️
State of things, things on the horizon, things behind us & more!
Over the past few months, our Ether treasury went down to just over $50k while the price of Seeds is down from $15 to $5 since the beginning of 2022.
Needless to say, the dream of MetaGamers working full time is dead - for now.
Though things have been a lot quieter & slower due to a number of reasons; from the price of Seeds to the macro picture & just the fact its Summer - we’re not stopping!
There’s actually decent progress being made considering everything & we’re not far away from having a solid platform 👀
Looking back…
As you might already know, MetaGame has been all over the place in terms of the breadth & scope of things we’re working on. Jumping from one thing to another; from Playbooks to MetaFest while consistently understaffed in all efforts.
Mistakes were made, things were learned & I don’t think it could have been otherwise, having started with unrealistic expectations by an inexperienced person with a grand yet undefined vision, building a decentralized community of hobbyists rather than a centralized team of professionals & all…
Not to say we don’t have professionals in our ranks - far from it - but the financial situation being what it is, they’re not the ones running the game 🤷♂️
On top of being slow & unprofessional, random internet people jumping into this weird DAO structure often left before finishing what they started. 😬
Some examples:
We built MyMeta before we had a decent landing page or a “start” screen
We built a dashboard before we had anything pointing to it
We built the questing system halfway through before onboarding quests or any of the above existed
Then we built the great new landing page…
In short, the experience of joining & playing MetaGame is completely disjointed & fractured across too many platforms - kind of sucks.
Truth be told, we’ve been doing it like in the “not like this” example 👇
Traditional wisdom: Start from an MVP & perfect it before doing other things.
MetaGame: What?! Hold my beer.
Alas!
We persevered.
People being drawn together by the meme & not being dependent on Seeds gave us exactly the kind of flexibility we needed to keep on pushing through regardless of the state of the treasury - or a lack thereof.
Speed & efficiency 🔽

So, even though things didn’t make sense for a long time & the experience was anything but smooth, we’re getting there!

Oh, and in case you’re wondering why “onboarding quests” are separate from “quests”, it’s because quests are an internal project that was started, dropped then taken over the finish line recently - while “onboarding quests” are QuestChains.
WTF are QuestChains? Its the first project that was inspired & started through MetaGame by members of MetaGame - but isn’t “a MetaGame project”.
I’m actually quite hyped about that besides MetaGame as a whole.
And WTF is the Web3 Onboarding Game? Oh, just this huge missing piece in “The Onboarding Machine” narrative that is finally being written by peth. You can go play with the early version here.
So, wen MetaGame v1?
Though some of these require a bunch more work which can be unpredictable, I’m quite confident all of these pieces will be in place & work properly by the end of this season - September 22nd.
At that point, we’ll be ready to call it MetaGame v1… Beta?
Then, we can start tying up loose ends, polishing what we’ve built & preparing for Phase II 👀
There is a whole lot to do in Season 7 (current) & there’ll be a whole lot more in Season 8 - from figuring out Phase II tokenomics to launching a new DAO while brainstorming & implementing adoption strategies and other boring-but-important shit.

🔍 Journalist Research and collect info about happenings in web3 and its relation to “the world at large” for our newsletters, articles and Twitter posts.
📰 Blogster Are you into technical writing or more into fiery polemic texts? Whatever it is, the only true requirements are quality, nuance and alignement. Join our ever-expanding publications of over 5000 subs! Introduce yourself in 📝-writers-guild, or DM UniPuff 🜐.
Community:
🤗 Innkeeper Onboard new Octos and organize events. Good facilitation skills are a must!
Growth:

🙌 Meetup Master - To help with organizing community events with the focus on workshops - facilitating knowledge exchange by scheduling workshops based on 🧠-brain-exchange
✍️ Writers’ Guild Deputy Words are one “s” away from swords and we need people that can wield them with mastery. There is a lot to write about and there are newly concocted editorial processes to be tested out. If you fancy yourself as a mighty wordsmith, introduce yourself in 📝-writers-guild

Champion roles are of the highest importance and highest commitment & responsibility roles. There are requirements that need to be taken seriously.

luxumbra has been wrestling the with a particularly difficult mint including the MetaFest initiative, helped out by s_ben and Polimyl ⚒
dysbulic has been keeping up with new developments at Ceramic that may help (or hinder) our work with MyMeta, plus helping with code reviews and akig’s on-chain carbon sequestration scheme.
vid and crew have kept Quest Chains moving forward, now with a completed NFT awarding system, Polygon chain support, plus its own Discord & Twitter and an approved FileCoin grant proposal. The team is preparing necessary material to launch a Yeeter campaign, which will very likely happen in about 2 weeks. Quest Chains also got the first non-test quest chain created last week by $DOWN Social Token organisation! Upcoming features: 3D NFTs (thanks, beti and dan13ram) and a revamped quest chain page view by Dave. Any Players interested in helping to add in some MetaGame Quests?
