MetaNews #14 - November 2023
Community calls recap, UX Squad builder updates, MetaAlliance updates, links, more!
Because it’s December and I wanted to be the first newsletter-writing person to do the Happy Holidays thing, I thought I’d ask the computer to help by generating an image of me with a Santa hat on, toasting your health by raising a Mega-Venté pumpkin-spiced syrup-drizzled cream-topped choco-vanilla Cold-Brew Frappé-Latté-Chino Coffee Drink™.
But the resulting image was terrifying, and now I’m trying to forget it ever happened.
So, straight into the newsletter!
No! Not straight into the newsletter!
I have a DAOcember promo to include first!
MetaFest wasn’t enough … peth just had to go and do DAOcember - two weeks of talks, panels, demos, workshops & more for anyone who wants to know all about DAOs … on now! (December 1-15)

plus more!
November’s community calls and guests were booked, organised, hosted, promoted in various measures by peth, joseacabrerav, vanessagil, amongst others. Props!
Also in November …
peth redesigned the community call template and did alllll the preps for DAOcember
joseacabrerav hosted Bard’s Night and helped with part of the DAOcember preps
📱 Technology
The UX Squad continued to refine the MetaGame website.
Some highlights:
Improvements to the Guild onboarding flow, with a sign up form that’s easier to use and collects more useful data (thanks to peth, dysbulic, luxumbra, Sero, nitegeist, Dave, Alec)
Finishing off the calendar widget in the dashboard (🤝 dysbulic, luxumbra)
New look for the landing page (words by peth, design by Dave, 💻by nitegeist, ✔ by Sero)
Most of these updates are currently pre-release - you’ll see them soon on the website!
As well as that …
dysbulic went on another bug-fixing quest, slogging through GraphQL generator quirks, esoteric GitHub actions and secrets, hydration errors, yarn versions, and .env vars
peth rewrote the onboarding game and redesigned the website background
HHH finished off the Upgrading Quests Part 2 issue, with a review from Alec
Polimyl worked on multisig-related tasks, including finding a replacement for the polygon safe bridge
Sero, dysbulic, and Alec worked on an issue loading DAO memberships into the Player cards and list
…
Past 2 months of updates were merged to main after 24h debugging by Sero
