Meta #26 - MetaFam's Got Things Going

Last week’s newsletter was all about The Octo’s birthday and our achievement since it’s conception; now it’s time to give you an update on the ongoing initiatives.

Octo Birthday Party

Let’s start with the birthday party you should regret not-attending; it was pretty damn cool. These spatial audio sort of environments are about as close as we can get to recreating the IRL mingling of meetups in virtual environments. (it’s kind of why we’re building MetaVille)

For the most part, there were ~20 people engaging in 3-4 conversation-circles, with many more people dropping by for a while to say hello & check out the venue. If you want to know what we talked about, you should have been there 😝

Here’s one shot from when the people started arriving, before forming conversation circles etc. After that, things just got too wild for me to be taking pictures.

MyMeta

Last week’s raid yielded success! MyMeta profiles & the player list are now live, you can check them out here.

As you can see, the profiles know what (Moloch) DAOs you’re a member of, how much XP you got and what’s your rank in MetaGame. Next up we’re getting other DAO framework support, player skills & finishing the actual profile creation flow.

MetaRadio

Thanks to Kris coming around to write the show notes, we got the MetaView podcast back on track, out with the new episode!

This one featuring Hammad, Pet3r, Drew Harding & James Young talking world collapse, local economies & decentralized societies. This was a fun one.

The next one being recorded this Friday, featuring one of the most well known educators in the Ethereum space 😶

Also considering launching The Autonomous Podcast. WTF is it? More soon™.

MetaWiki

The wiki page lived to be restructured. The data structure was a mess, the page structure was a mess & some of the pages were a mess. It has all been cleaned up.

If you haven’t browsed through the wiki yet, well, maybe it’s time that you do.

Next up for the wiki? Time to redesign it & make it fit the MyMeta profiles.

Discord Improvements

Next up is the Discord revamp. As suggested by some members, our Discord could use some cleaning up & restructuring as well. So now we have a raid channel for it, managed by vanilladelphia. If you’re a player already & have some ideas, jump in there.

Seed Market

As you might have noticed, there’s trouble in paradise.

The idea was that instead of minting Seeds just to provide liquidity to our Uniswap pool, we’d be buying Seeds off of past contributors then using those existing Seeds to add liquidity.

With the cost of interacting with Uniswap being between 40 & 80 dollars, this has become impossibru. We’re looking into alternatives such as redeploying the Seed market on xDAI. There are downsides to doing that but at least it would become usable.

MetaMaps

This Web3 mapping tool, managed through a wallet & to be integrated with _Prtcl git system; should help us with things like building out the skill trees, managing the navigation board & the initial version of the House of MetaFam.

LoneRonin built the initial version here, more on this initiative soon.

New Seed Ledger

Gearing up to the Beta version, the new version of SourceCred brought us a brand new grain ledger. It took a bit of work to migrate the old graph to the new grain ledger, but Hammad made it happen!

InterState MetaVille

The actual game-game part of MetaGame. Our very own spatial audio interface, a place for hanging out with crypto fam, exploring the Ethereum space & at some point, managing your farms.

Currently in the very early phase of development, full post on it soon.

Mentorships

Peer to peer learning was always supposed to be a big part of MetaGame. It’s been happening but we’re still lacking a more structured way of doing this. There’s the #friend-finder channel that is supposed to help people align on topics with others but…
