Yours is one of the few newsletters I actually read haha I've always liked your style (that's what got me here and also that's how I discovered Metagame). So maybe we can help amplify your work in some way 🤔 I don't know. I have no idea how to market anything lol but there must be something we can do to amplify more.
Appreciate you very much! Honestly even just clicking the like button &/or commenting helps a lot. If I write a post that you especially like, you can share it with a friend or a fitting group chat.
Wouldn't even ask for anything more than that without compensation! 😂
Was thinking about starting a referral program but wasnt sure what to put on as reward tiers 🤔
Yes, sharing the posts is a good idea. I shared the one about DAO Archetypes actually haha and about the referral program, it might work, though I'm not sure about the tiers either. Rewards might be not precisely monetary, maybe cool digital objects. But that's just me haha maybe other people do want money rewards.
Yeah... Having small financial rewards might only insult people, but I couldnt think of anything non-financial. I started the telegram group but that feels like a weak sauce for attracting people.. Idk, will give it more thought
And about my favorite part...I actually enjoy more when you talk about specific topics. I tend to skip the news a little, or just read the headlines. Right now, I value "long content" more (but I know it's not so attractive in the mainstream).
And about specific topics: what comes to mind first is maybe getting to know projects that are not so known out there. For example, in the Built on Ethereum doc, you talked about how African communities adopt crypto. I think that's interesting, showing what else is there beyond the degen haha
For a long time, I've noticed most people in the US and Europe seem blind to the everyday struggles of people in developing countries... most don't even notice the edge they have by being born in a first-world country. It was always obvious to me that crypto has been helping people all around the world, and this documentary proves my intuition. It's one of the most real things I've seen about crypto in a long time, well-documented and in touch with people. I think this documentary shows how something as simple as a stablecoin is making a big difference.
These algorithms turning us into button pressing chimpanzees. Peth I ❤️ your work. There should be algorithms that can reflect that, and also help me flow value across the ecosystem that support me with insight. Thanks for your candid observations.
🤣 is what it is.. I also plan on pushing for paid subscription more after I write a good post or two. For the past month or so, I was basically just recapping what this is about & trying to figure out whether I should even continue at all 😂
Slowly collecting pledges but won't turn on paid subscriptions until I reach at least 20 pledges.
What kind of posts do you enjoy the most? Any specific topic you think I should write about?
A lot of us are busy with day-to-day stuff and don't have enough idle time to keep up with our news feeds. We stack weekly and scroll through our favorite creator's catalogs during vacations or long weekends. Keep up the good work Peth. Been following you for about 8 years, I'm probably a lifelong fan. Cheers!
You start your thinking from solid foundations like, how smart contracts make many layers of business unnecessary, or, all human endeavors are games and life is the metagame where you play the game of selecting endeavors. Then, you give commentary on the state of our art, or, you generate ideas about ways to practice and implement our art. Basically, you're a high signal-high gain creator and communicator.
I want to click through your links in Weekly Meta #1, but I'm up against a clock right now. If you were to read the articles in a podcast form for about 18 minutes and then give 2 minutes of your original thoughts at the end, that would be perfect to listen to on the commute. Longer form stuff less frequently is good, too. A once a month Clif High podcast lasts me a few days for noodling on, for example.
Thank you, that's helpful! So in your case you'd say the news section is more useful than the posts? Any specific kind of news or topics you think I should cover?
That's the thing. You're naturally good at curating the news that's worth knowing about in this space. If you think it's noteworthy, that's the signal. Bankless falls flat because they just amplify noise. Since you're a buidler, your senses are tuned to identify the news that matters to me.
Thank you! Would still appreciate additional signal tho! If it ever occurs to you, things like "more of this type", "less of this kind" or "you missed this important thing that happened" :)

Also what's your favorite part? Still undecided about the news section. Any specific topics you'd like to see me write about?

But, of course, written in your style with the insights and side thoughts and everything.
Thank you! I was thinking about writing a longer post about this actually https://substack.com/@petheth/note/c-139702645
Ended up writing a different one, but I‘ll prob do that next
Keep up the good work! :-)
Oh and I watch the documentary, I will share later on x.

I think this is a great substack please continue.

From time to time, someone pops into my comments or DMs or approaches me on a conference and says something like this - always makes my day 🫡
Is there anything specific you like about my writing? Wdyt about the weekly news & post split, or is the weekly news useful at all?

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Yess, but also, what is dead cannot die
You should post this into x too right?
I meant these, all articles
Thank you, I share most of them but this one didnt seem like a good fit there as it was more specific to substack
Maxwell woke up and chose violence. Don't listen to maxwell. Listen to Peth. Peth is Eth. Nay devil's trap Yay schelling point for the hopeful.
Comment meanwhile deleted, wish I had seen it on time! 🤣
